Hafele Kitchen Ideas Design Challenge
To recognise and encourage fresh and innovative ideas into Kitchen designing, Kitchen Ideas, the premier magazine for kitchen design has come up with the idea of an all India design competition – the first-ever in India to focus only on kitchens, in 2021.
Hafele India Private Limited, the leader in architectural hardware, furniture and kitchen fittings, is the title sponsor for the first edition of the Kitchen Ideas Design Challenge.
Covering pan India – divided into 4 zones, the competition is meant for practising architects and interior designers. The first edition in 2021 is going to follow a phygital format with the zonal leg being held digitally – culminating into an on-ground Grand Finale on 3rd September 2021 in Mumbai.
The Categories
Architects and interior designers, working with architectural or designing firms or having independent firms are invited to compete for the Hafele Kitchen Ideas Design Challenge in the following categories of residential kitchens:
1. Built
2. Unbuilt/Concept
Within Built category:

Open Kitchens – Modern, trendy spaces that seamlessly integrate with the living area

Compact & Space-saving Kitchens – Functional, modern and gadget-friendly spaces spanning around 90 sq. ft.
Please note: The entries in this category would be Executed Designs. The submission must include a concept note, technical drawings with plans and section details and actual photographs in 300 DPI.
Within Unbuilt/Concept category:

Open Kitchens – Modern, trendy spaces that seamlessly integrate with the living area

Compact & Space saving Kitchens – Functional, modern and gadget-friendly spaces spanning around 90 sq. ft.

The Zone
Northern - Delhi NCR, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh & Rajasthan
Western – Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh & Goa
Southern – Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana & Andhra Pradesh
Eastern – West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Meghalaya & Assam
The Jury
The entries will be judged by a jury of eminent architects across India.
The zonal jurors will decide on the zonal winners.
The zonal winners will compete in the Grand Finale, which will be judged by a panel of national jury.
The Process
Registrations open: 25th May 2021
Submissions close: 10th July 2021

On registration, the participant will be allotted a user id with a password and participants can upload the designs by logging in with the same

The participant can participate in all subcategories of the Built & Unbuilt segment.

The submission will be in the form of a single PDF which could include a maximum of 10 slides of A3 size and the total size of the PDF should not exceed 16 MB.
a) For Built Category: The submission should include a concept note, technical drawings with plans and section details and actual photographs in 300 DPI.
b) For Unbuilt Category: The submission should include a concept note, technical drawings with plans and section details and 3D Renders in 300 DPI.

The entries will be judged by the zonal jury of eminent architects

The zonal winners across the four zones will compete nationally in the Grand Finale.

The zonal winners will present their designs to the national jury on a one to one basis. This will be followed by the announcement of national winners during the felicitation ceremony.
The Grand Finale
The zonal winners from each zone of the two broad categories will be hosted in Mumbai for the Grand Finale.
The Jury members will also be hosted in Mumbai for the Grand Finale.
The zonal winners will then give a one to one presentation to the national jury.
After the presentations by the zonal winners, one national winner for the Built category & the other for the Unbuilt category will be announced and felicitated at the Grand Finale.
The Grand Finale will be held at a 5-star hotel on 3rd September 2021, Mumbai.
The Prize
Prize in Built Category: Rs.1,50,000/-, a certificate and a plaque
Prize in Unbuilt Category: Rs.1,50,000/- a certificate and a plaque
The Zonal Winners will be given a certificate and a plaque.
Please note: A TDS of 30% will be deducted on prize money as per statutory guidelines.

Entries must be submitted by individuals, who are qualified architects or interior designers from India. If an organisation/interior or architecture firm chooses to apply, they must nominate an individual.

Participant needs to submit the following details while registering for the Hafele Kitchen Ideas Design Challenge:
⎫ Architects - The registration number of the Council of Architecture
⎫ Interior Designers - The name of Interior Design College & year of passing

Only one entry per subcategory will be allowed, but the participant is free to participate in all five subcategories.

The participants must not include any information related to them (like name, email id, mobile number, COA registration no, company name etc) or any watermark in the design and the PDF being submitted. Such design is liable to be summarily rejected.

For qualifying for the competition, the submissions must follow all the above-mentioned submission guidelines.

The entries submitted will be the property of GNOSIS Services Pvt Ltd (parent company of Kitchen Ideas) and they would use the same for editorial purpose.

Designs will be uploaded only after the registration for Hafele Kitchen Ideas Design Challenge is complete.

By submitting an entry, the participant acknowledges and agrees to their personal information being a part of the Gnosis Services Pvt. Ltd. & Hafele India Pvt. Ltd. database. These details shall be used for sending commercial information.

The decision of the jury shall be final.

Jury Members, employees of Hafele India Pvt. Ltd. and Gnosis Services Pvt. Ltd. and others directly or indirectly associated with the initiative will not be eligible to participate in the competition.

Offline submission through hard copies will not be accepted.

Dates and venues of the felicitation event mentioned are subject to change.

Gnosis Services Pvt. Ltd. reserves the right to alter, modify or withdraw from the competition.

In case the information contained in the registration form is found to be incorrect, false or incomplete, the form is liable to be summarily rejected. The organiser reserve the right to ask the participants to produce documents to meet the qualification criteria during any stage of the competition.
