Water Purifier: Technology and Innovation
December 15, 2021
With the continuous advancement in filtration technology, the functionality, and the overall look of water purifiers, a plethora of options are available in every price segment and the buyer needs to make an informed decision.
Water purification systems for domestic use have drawn much attention over the past few years. This can be related to the improvement of public health and concerns about water contamination. Simple procedures such as boiling or the use of a household charcoal filter are not sufficient for treating water from an unknown source.
Water purifiers have become a must-have in Indian kitchens due to the irregular quality of drinking water being supplied. As a matter of fact, chlorine in drinking water can cause an extensive variety of genuine medical problems. These incorporate the accompanying higher danger of the growth of cardiovascular issues, asthma, birth deserts, etc. The convenience of boiling water before utilising helps expel contaminants, yet this is additionally a tedious procedure, particularly when bigger measures of water are required. Water purifier frameworks offer an advantageous method to dispose of contaminants while likewise sparing time.
Keeping in mind the aesthetic needs of the modern Indian kitchen, the design of the water purifiers has become quite sleek and trendy. The latest trend in that direction is built-in water purifiers. These not only save on space but also seamlessly integrate with the kitchen enhancing its aesthetic appeal while providin the same functionality.

Water Purifiers and filtration technologies
There are different types of water filtration processes such as Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration (RO), Ultra Filtration (UF), and Ultra Violet disinfection (UV). The Reverse Osmosis system involves a simple water filtration mechanism. The filtration system includes the passage of water or other solvents through a semi-permeable membrane. The membrane blocks the dissolved solute that contaminates water. The process filters out all sorts of contaminants such as ions, pesticides, microorganisms, and other chemicals from water.
Ultrafiltration (UF) is a pressure-driven barrier to suspended solids, bacteria, viruses, endotoxins, and other pathogens to produce water with very high purity and low silt density. Ultraviolet (UV) rays are part of the light that comes from the sun. The UV spectrum is higher in frequency than visible light and lowers in frequency compared to x-rays. As a water treatment technique, UV is known to be an effective disinfectant due to its strong germicidal (inactivating) ability where UV disinfects water containing bacteria and viruses and can be effective against protozoans like, Giardia lamblia cysts or Cryptosporidium oocysts.

Hence, while choosing the right water purification system for kitchens some water purifiers are better than others are. Price, in this case, is not always indicative of quality. RO filtration process is one of the most effective methods of water purification.
Namit Bajoria, Director, Kutchina says, “The regular purifiers available in the market today just eliminate the basic impurities from water. Therefore introducing the advanced technology in RO water purifiers will help to fight diseases and we can all have a stronger immune system.”
He further added that a couple of things that you need to know before purchasing a water purifier in India. “There are six types of water purifier that is available in the market, Reverse Osmosis, Ultraviolet, Ultrafiltration, Activated Carbon, Sediment Filter, and Anti-oxidant is a new Variety which has come up to increase the immunity,” therefore a sound choice needs to be made to choose from them. The nature of pollutants and the hardness of the water should be taken into consideration while deciding on the right water purifier.
Often consumers do not understand the rationale behind the regular and quality service and maintenance, that it is for ensuring filters run properly, get pure water and the life of the RO water purifier is preserved.

What the market is offering?
Sushil Matey, Director - Marketing, Livpure speaking on the RO technology says, “Livpure’s RO purifier is equipped with an extensive purification process that filters all possible impurities from the water and ensures good health for the family members. Under its warranty process, there are also provisions for the replacement of the RO water purifier filter that is the major contributor to cleaning the impure water. Clean and pollution-free water plays an important part in enhancing the family’s lifestyle. Reverse Osmosis is the most popular water purification technology available across the world, today. Hence, choosing the best RO water purifier is as important as choosing the right doctor.”
Other than the RO water, purifiers from other renowned brands use a combination of purification methods to remove different types of contaminants and make water suitable for consumption. For example, a leading water purifier brand KENT and QNET India have collaborated to bring to the fore an exclusive solution for water purification — the brand new KENT-QNET SMART Alkaline-Mineral RO Water Purifier. This water purifier ensures the right pH levels in the water and removes dissolved impurities like arsenic, rust, bacteria, and viruses, providing pure water for a healthy lifestyle.
At the heart of the KENT-QNET SMART Alkaline-Mineral, RO Water Purifier is a Reverse Osmosis (RO) membrane that has capillaries as small as 0.0001 microns, which helps reduce dissolved impurities (salts and heavy metals,) and converts hard water to sweet and pure drinking water.
