Spotting Trends at Eurocucina 2024
September 17, 2024
Eurocucina held bi-annually as part of Salone del Mobile, is renowned for revealing cutting-edge designs and innovative products. Kitchen Ideas looks at a few key trends from this year’s expo.
At the Salone del Mobile 2024, the biennials EuroCucina and FTK (Technology for the Kitchen) and International Bathroom Exhibition biennials received special attention.
For the first time in a trade fair context, the studio has harnessed neuroscience to improve the visitor experience, analysing visitors' neurological, emotional and perceptual reactions to the various paths, and the location and distribution of the exhibition and rest areas, designed in collaboration with Lombardini22. The guiding theme was ‘Evolution’, which was also the central message of Salone's innovative communication campaign for its international Road Show.
Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile, Milano, said, “The 62nd edition of the Salone del Mobile, Milano exceeded all expectations: it was a record edition. We saw exceptional results, thanks to the confidence of an ecosystem that, yet again, recognised the international leadership of the event.”

Eurocucina 2024 was a spectacular showcase of innovation, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology, establishing new trends and benchmarks in the world of kitchen design. Here are some key trends that we observed:
Innovative Kitchen Designs
Eurocucina 2024 focused on innovative kitchen designs that seamlessly integrate aesthetics and functionality. Exhibitors displayed kitchens that were not only visually appealing but also extremely functional. The minimalist design trend was popular, featuring clean lines, sleek surfaces, and a harmonious blend of materials.
Open Shelving and Concealed Storage
Exhibitors preferred open shelving units for a modern, airy feel and convenient access to kitchen essentials. To counteract this openness, clever storage solutions were cleverly incorporated into the designs. Pull-out pantries, hidden drawers, and retractable cabinets exemplified the combination of form and function.
Material Innovation
This year's designs prioritised environmentally friendly and sustainable materials. Recycled glass countertops, bamboo cabinetry, and low-VOC (volatile organic compound) finishes were prominently displayed. Natural materials such as wood and stone provided warmth and texture to modern kitchen spaces.
Sustainability Focus
Eurocucina 2024 prioritized sustainability, demonstrating the design industry's growing commitment to environmentally responsible practices. Exhibitors showcased sustainable materials such as reclaimed wood, recycled metals, and biodegradable composites. Many companies emphasised the use of energy-efficient manufacturing processes and the reduction of waste in production.

Modular Kitchen Concepts
Modular kitchens were a popular trend due to their versatility and durability. These kitchens are easily reconfigured, upgraded, or repaired, reducing the need for major overhauls and reducing waste. This approach is consistent with the principles of a circular economy, in which products are intended to be reused and recycled.
Smart Kitchens and High-tech Appliances
Eurocucina 2024 saw a significant focus on technology, particularly smart kitchens. The incorporation of cutting-edge technology into kitchen appliances and systems is transforming how we interact with our cooking areas.
Smartphone apps and voice assistants were widely used to control connected appliances. These devices, ranging from refrigerators with internal cameras to ovens that recommend recipes based on available ingredients, are intended to make everyday tasks easier and more efficient.
Innovative cooking technologies on display included touchscreen-enabled induction cooktops, touchless faucets, and built-in vacuum sealers. These advancements not only improve the cooking experience but also encourage energy efficiency and sustainability.
The next edition of Salone del Mobile is scheduled to commence from April 8-13, 2025.
